The Deadline Effect

Read this book today about overcoming procrastination.

It’s called “The Deadline Effect” by Christopher Cox.

If you’re not where you want to be with your goals…

You might want to pay attention to this book.

Here are some tips I picked up:

  • You need daily checkpoints on the way to your bigger deadline…

  • Your plan might not work and you have to figure it out…

  • Map out how much time you need for each stage of the process…

  • Work backwards from your goal until you get to your start date…

  • Give yourself extra time, it usually takes 10-20x longer than we think it will…

  • Have a soft deadline before the final deadline… get your prototype or draft done ahead of the final deadline…

  • After your soft deadline then you can revise a ton and chip away until you get the final result…

  • Keep your goal’s mission in mind, otherwise on a day-to-day basis you’ll prioritize less important yet urgent tasks…

  • Give yourself extra time to revise and tweak (meeting a soft deadline helps a lot)…

  • Never fall behind in your daily work and then you won’t be stressed out about deadlines

Hope that helps you reach your goals easier.
