What else is in my jeans
Really cool to hear your origin stories…
Lots of interesting backgrounds on this list.
Always feel free to email me and tell me more about your life, where you’re from, your business, and whatever you need help with.
That’s what this relationship is actually for at the end of the day.
One of my friends responded to my genealogy that I wrote about yesterday…
He wondered what else is in my genes…
Except he sent me a voice note, so I didn’t know which spelling he meant…
He had to clarify GENES…
Not asking me what’s in my jeans.
Although if necessary I can prove that too.
All this talk of genealogy and genetics makes me think of some common things I hear in business…
We’re always talking about mental blocks…
And how trauma and our parents being mean will make us play scared in business…
So the theory is, if you’re afraid to charge more it’s because you have some childhood trauma and mental blocks you need to deal with.
I don’t entirely agree with this, because I can assure you we can find tons of people with horrible unaddressed trauma who are rich af and charging lots.
Same thing with “high performers…”
The theory is that your trauma will keep you from performing at the highest level…
But look at folks like Michael Jackson…
Horrible childhood trauma, but he practiced and did his craft so much…
He was a machine and always able to perform at the highest level.
Repetition, practice, and survival can > your trauma if necessary.
Be healthy in the rest of his life though?
That’s another story.
I think that’s actually where the problem was…
Not with his profession, skillset, or his ability to charge $$.
That being said…
I totally agree that you can be held back by beliefs you learned from family and culture.
I definitely feel like I’m still working on this.
It’s just possible that your trauma isn’t actually from your parents…
But from their parents’ parents…
Or even earlier.
So keep that in mind.
That’s what this genealogy process has taught me…
You might need to go farther back than when you were 5 years old.
There’s evidence that trauma gets passed on across generations.
Hope that’s helpful for you.
I’m excited to get into more email marketing stuff in the next few days…
And don’t forget…
We have a free Zoom call coming up on Monday, May 20th…
To talk about building and monetizing your email list…
And any other marketing advice I can help with.
