Email subscribers: "Here we are now, entertain us"
The results came in from my poll..
I sent this out a few days ago:
“Do you have an email list?”
The responses were a tie between:
“Yes and I want help with it”
As well as “No and I want one…”
Well, an email list is like a baby… or a dog..
You gotta feed it, water it, bathe it, play with it, entertain it..
But it’s the source of a lot of joy!
(And in your case with an email list… profits)
I’m here to show you how to raise your email list properly…
So they’ll be upstanding citizens and product buyers.
Check out this interesting response to the poll…
“Hi Rachelle, I sell [bottles on Amazon]. I have an email list I get from the warranty I offer. It has 500 ish people on it. I am struggling to get them to respond in any way. I’ve tried with story telling angle, I’ve asked what products they’d like to see next, I’ve asked them to leave a review for a free gift and I’ve even offered them a £20 Amazon voucher for a photo of them using my products and still only 6 replied. The response is always minimal, 5-8 people. Kind regards” - D.H.
Right away, I’m sensing a few things..
D.H. is asking them to do stuff..
Tell him what products they want..
They probably have no idea..
And what people say they want…
Versus what they actually do…
…are usually 2 very different things..
So we have to find this out through testing their behavior..
He’s also asking for a review..
Hmm, I’m suspicious that D.H. is probably not sending them crack emails..
Those are addictive, informational and yes… entertaining pieces of content...
That keeps them coming back for more and more..
So they can’t wait to read your next emails.
Even if you’re selling bottles.
Because your new subscribers are saying:
“Here we are now, entertain us”
Do not disappoint them!
And if you’re sending some “tell me what products you want” emails
Or a “fill out this review” type thing..
Then my guess is they’re just not feeling it…
But, being the good email detective I am…
I asked D.H. what exactly he’s doing per my email response below:
Are you emailing them right away as soon as they buy?
Do you have any automations set up to do that?
Let me know if you do or not... and if so, what are you sending them in those emails?
I know you mentioned some things you've tried, but I'm not sure when you're sending those emails.
Give me all the details on that.
It sounds like you may need a different approach, one that is more educational or personality based.
Plus you may need to optimize the automations they get right after they buy, which is critical.

I don't email them straight away.
[RCD response: Oops! There’s your biggest problem right there. The welcome sequence is your big opportunity for these people to learn who you are]
An automated email is sent to them after 8 days asking for a review using [Product Name]..
[RCD response: Holy 💩 batman they wait 8 days?! They already forgot who you are]
I get them on my list with a QR code on an insert card offering a 5-year warranty.

I send a welcome email once a week to new customers.
[RCD response: My guess is that this email doesn’t accomplish much… even if it has good info in it]
I started sending them a weekly celebration email with a review in it, asking the person who wrote the review to reply to me for a free gift. I then ask everyone else to write a review and be part of the next celebration.
[RCD response: 🥱… I sleepy now 😴]
This is just the tip of the iceberg..
When it comes to strategy..
Testing..
Email copy..
Offers..
There are SO many pieces to the puzzle..
But most importantly..
You want to show up and commit to this..
Just like you would anything else in your life..
It’ll take some time.
But it’s worth it.
