How to Get Started in Copywriting

As I mentioned yesterday…

I officially started my freelance copywriting journey in Jan 2019.

Lots of people want to know my “copywriting origin story…”

So I’ll give you a little bit in this email.

I first learned what copywriting is from a Jason Capital YouTube ad in Summer 2018.

I was at the beach with my family that July writing my first emails…

I registered my business, Damn Good Emails LLC in September…

Here’s my first logo:

Then in January 2019, I quit my full-time accounting job to pursue my first clients.

I remember it was an exciting and sometimes confusing time…

I was definitely “figuring things out.”

I had mentors who showed me so many things, such as:

Some of this stuff I actually passed along in my “Cheat Codes” last year…

I’m not promoting that right now and I don’t think you can find an active working checkout page for it…

But at some point if enough folks want it, I may revisit that.

The reason why I recommend you do this…

…is because everything is organized and codified for you…

These are proven systems that are essentially “done for you…”

You just have to plug and play.

The alternative is that you google everything and spend the time and effort to piece it together yourself…

As appealing as it sounds to just say “I’ll figure it out myself…”

There are practically infinite articles, videos, and documents for you to look through.

It’s like walking into the world’s biggest library with unlimited floors full of books and resources.

That’s why I recommend certain mentors… because I’m already a few years into this…

I know what you need to learn and whom you can learn it from.
